Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies Hosts Certificate Awarding and Inauguration Ceremony – 2025

The prestigious certificate awarding ceremony for the Certificate Course in Astrology (Group 10) and the Advanced Certificate in Yoga Philosophy (Group 3), along with the inauguration for the new batch of the Certificate Course in Astrology (Group 12), was held on December 20, 2025.

This notable event was organized by the Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies at the University of Kelaniya and took place at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, which was filled with an atmosphere of anticipation and academic excellence.

Under the esteemed patronage of Dr Sudath Senarath, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, the ceremony commenced with a warm welcome to all attendees. The highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Senior Professor Ven. Induragare Dhammarathana Thero of the Department, whose insights into the significance of astrology and yoga philosophy captivated the audience. As the ceremony progressed, Senior Lecturer Ven. Udawela Rewatha Thero, the Head of the Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies, shared inspiring words that resonated deeply with the students and faculty alike. Senior Lecturer Mr Harsha Dharmapriya also addressed the gathering, highlighting the dedication and hard work of the graduating students.
